3 people hospitalized after house fire in Jefferson County

Three people were hospitalized after a structure fire broke out Saturday morning in Conifer.

Two adults and one child were transported to the hospital, and two other homes were temporarily evacuated.

Explosions were heard near the fire, and were “likely related to propane,” Jefferson County Sheriffs said.

The wildfire that extended to the grass and trees covers about half an acre, and the Elk Creek Fire Department is working on containing it.

The fire will likely smolder for several more hours, and Jeffco officials said the home appears to be a “total loss.”

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, and an investigation into the fire’s origin will occur in the coming days, officials said.
