If you’re in Connecticut, it is getting easier to fly from here to there – wherever there may be.  This month, two carriers rapidly growing operations - Avelo Airlines at Tweed-New Haven and Breeze Airways from Bradley International – are adding destinations and reaching milestones.  Which is good news for air travelers here, as the industry prepares for what is expected to be a busy summer season.

Avelo is celebrating flying two million customers in Southern Connecticut as the airline takes off with exclusive nonstop service from Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) – to Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) and to Charlotte’s Concord-Padgett Regional Airport (USA) this month. Avelo is the first and only airline offering nonstop service from both Atlanta and Charlotte to Southern Connecticut.

Since Avelo took flight at HVN on November 3, 2021, more than two million Customers have flown through HVN on over 15,000 flights. To celebrate this milestone and the start of two new routes, Avelo Airlines is continuing to offer Connecticut travelers everyday low fares on these new flights. All flights will utilize Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft.

To Atlanta via Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL), Avelo will operate four times weekly on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, with low one-way fares start at $88.  To Charlotte, N.C. via Concord-Padgett Regional Airport (USA), Avelo will operate this route initially twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, expanding beginning June 14, to four times weekly with the addition of Mondays and Fridays.  Low one-way fares start at $85.

Avelo Airlines Founder, Chairman, and CEO Andrew Levy said, “We are excited to offer Southern Connecticut residents even more travel options with today’s additions of Atlanta and Charlotte. Whether visiting friends and family or enjoying a leisurely vacation, Avelo offers time and money-saving convenience for Connecticut travelers. With 25 nonstop destinations, flying from Tweed is easier and more affordable than ever. Additionally, when you consider our industry-leading reliability and caring Soul of Service, it is clear why 2 million people have flown Avelo at Tweed since 2021.”

The Connecticut Airport Authority announced this month that Breeze Airways is launching five nonstop routes. Two of those seasonal routes started May 2 between Bradley International Airport (BDL) and the following destinations:  Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG).  The flights to Myrtle Beach will initially operate three days a week and then increase to five days a week starting in June. Flights to Cincinnati will operate three days a week.

“This month marks three years since Breeze started flying out of Bradley International Airport, which also serves as one of the airline’s operating bases,” said Kevin A. Dillon, A.A.E., Executive Director of the Connecticut Airport Authority. “We are appreciative of Breeze’s growth and success at Bradley International Airport and thank the airline for offering our passengers a growing list of nonstop destinations at affordable fares.”

In addition to the two new routes launched this month, Breeze will start flying nonstop to the following destinations from BDL this month:  Greenville-Spartanburg, SC (May 24); New Bern, NC (May 24) and Orlando, FL (May 29).  Additionally, Breeze will begin BreezeThru service from BDL to the following destinations:  San Diego, CA (Launched May 1) and Santa Ana, CA (May 29).  BreezeThru service includes one stop, but passengers do not have to change planes.

“This year, three years after our launch, we are focused on building on the solid foundation we have established in many of our key origin cities, such as at Hartford,” said Tom Doxey, Breeze’s President.

“Our terrific airport partners at Bradley International support us in this growth, resulting in even more flights to popular destinations across our network so more people can experience the benefits of our unique business model, combining low fares, nonstop flights and a seamless, elevated experience.  We’re excited to add five more nonstop destinations and two BreezeThru routes from BDL this month alone.”
