Spartan Softball falls at home to West Marshall, softball and baseball in action Friday
The Grundy Center softball team fell 11-4 at home Thursday to #12 (3A) West Marshall. The Trojans scored twice in the first, but the Spartans tied it a 2-2 in the bottom of the first. Five scoreless innings followed for Grundy Center, while West Marshall scored three in the second, five in the sixth and one in the seventh. The Spartans followed with two runs in the seventh. Carlie Willis had two hits. Maddy Hendershot pitched 5.2 innings with three strikeouts, eight walks, one hit batter and nine hits. Grundy Center (10-15) will be at Aplington-Parkersburg Friday at 5:00 p.m.
Bobcat Baseball and Softball vs Waterloo East 6/27
The Marshalltown Bobcats baseball team traveled north to take on the Waterloo East Trojans. The Bobcats who have 4 wins on the season so far, thought the Trojans could bring win number 5 as the Trojans are 10 – 17 overall and 7 – 7 in the Iowa Alliance.

Seventh Inning Dooms NM
LE GRAND – North Mahaska took its baseball team on the road to East Marshall Thursday and was clinging to a 2-1 advantage in the seventh inning, but the host Mustangs plated a pair of runs to edge NM 3-2. North Mahaska (9-14) was outhit 10-5 in the contest but was able to keep ahead of the Mustangs until the final frame. Hunter Wernli hit a single and double with an RBI. Combined No-Hitter Powers PCM Softball Past BCLUW
A combined no-hitter helped power the #8 ranked PCM softball team past BCLUW at home Thursday night. The Mustangs saw a lights out performance on the mound from Libby Winters who threw three innings and Camden Webb who threw four to complete the no-hitter. The game was tied 0-0 in the bottom of the sixth when Lark Drake drew a walk and Tori Lindsay hit a double to put two runners on for PCM. It was starting pitcher Libby Winters who had the late game heroics offensively for the Mustangs as she hit a single up the middle to score Drake and Lindsay to score two runs which would be enough to secure the win.
