Kennywood rollercoaster reopens after photo appears to show cinderblocks supporting part of the ride
Two days after an alarming photo from oneBURGH media blew up on Facebook, Kennywood pumped the brakes on the Racer, temporarily shutting the rollercoaster down Wednesday.
Activities Planned At Moraine State Park
It’s a great weekend to enjoy some outdoor activities at Moraine State Park. First, a Star Party is planned for Saturday night from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Lakeview Beach Area on the North Shore of Moraine. Volunteers from the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh will bring their privately owned telescopes to help participants learn how to spot a few planets and constellations. Those planning to attend should bring a lawn chair or blanket as well as bug spray. No smoking, flashlights, light-up toys, or cell phones at this free event.
This Week in Pittsburgh History: Led Zeppelin Breaks Records at Three Rivers Stadium
When Led Zeppelin came to Pittsburgh in 1970, fans went so wild that police rushed into the crowd. Three years and a huge increase in fame later, the band was back in town, playing to a crowd of 40,000 at Three Rivers Stadium on July 24, 1973. It was the largest crowd to ever attend a concert in Pittsburgh at the time. The 15-song set included “The Song Remains the Same,” “Stairway to Heaven” and “Whole Lotta Love.”

Renovations celebrated at Seven Fields pool
SEVEN FIELDS — A project three years in the making has been completed at the Seven Fields Town Park Pool, 390 Castle Creek Drive. The renovation project started in 2022, borough manager Tom Smith said, with phase one and two of the project completed in 2023 and phase three finished on June 10, when the pool reopened.

Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is the perfect spot to stop and smell the roses. Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Oakland, which was completed in August 1893 and opened the following December, was originally a gift to the City of Pittsburgh from philanthropist Henry W. Phipps in order to “prove a source of instruction as well as pleasure to the people.”
Tekko 2024 Artist Spotlight: The Charming Spark of Wyrmwood Pyro
The Zelda Dungeon team had the pleasure of interacting with Haley Beahr of Wyrmwood Pryo at Pittsburgh’s Tekko convention this year! She had one of the most striking tables in the Artist Alley, as it was chock-full of pyrographic pieces. Pyrography is art made with fire on many mediums, but Beahr chose wood for her bases and colored pencils to bring them to life.
