2 teenagers among 4 arrested in pistol-whipping assault at Conway-area party

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Two 17-year-olds are among four people facing charges in a pistol-whipping assault at a Conway-area party earlier this month, according to Horry County police records.

Grayson Colt Meyers, 17; Andres Carmelo Alvarado, 17; Alen Ahmetovic, 20; and Benjam Kelly, 19, were all charged with kidnapping and first-degree assault and battery.

Police responded at about 1:30 a.m. on July 19 to Church Street for an assault that happened on Cultra Road, according to a police report. The victim told the officer he was confronted by a group of males about gang hand-signs.

The victim said he emptied his pockets and then was hit in the face with a pistol, the report said. He said he was then assaulted by two other males and had “visible injuries to his face, back and side.” He identified the three of them through Snapchat stories.

The four males allegedly led the victim to a room and did not allow him to leave before assaulting him for about five minutes, according to an arrest warrant. Meyers and Kelly both are accused of hitting him in the face with a pistol.

As of this writing, only Meyers remained in jail at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center, online booking records show. Alvarado was released Sunday after his Thursday arrest on a $41,000 bond. Ahmetovic was arrested Friday morning and released that evening on a $22,500 bond. Kelly was arrested July 19 and released to home detention on an $80,000 bond.
