    Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx Narrowly Avoids Physical Assault After Man Hurls Liquid At Her

    Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx narrowly escaped a potential physical assault when a man allegedly threw a liquid substance at her near a residence in south suburban Flossmoor on Friday.

    According to Cook County court records, William D. Swetz, 34, of Flossmoor, has been charged with aggravated battery in a public place and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

    The incident unfolded as Foxx was standing on the parkway beside the road.

    Swetz reportedly hurled a brown liquid substance from a drink cup directly at her face while seated in the driver’s seat of a GMC truck.

    Additionally, he allegedly reversed his vehicle across the road and accelerated toward Foxx, prompting her to step onto the parkway grass out of fear for her safety.

    Foxx, who became the first Black woman elected to the state’s attorney’s office in 2016, has faced significant scrutiny during her tenure, including criticism of her office’s charging decisions and handling of high-profile cases such as those involving R. Kelly.
