Make it 13 Class of 2025 football commitments for the University of Miami since June 1.

The latest: Phenix City (Ala.) Central four-star wide receiver Daylyn Upshaw. On Saturday, he picked UM over Georgia, Florida, UCF, Texas, Auburn and others.

Upshaw is the Canes’ 18th non-binding pledge for 2025 and the only wide receiver currently committed in this class. Palm Beach Central receiver Waden Charles, who was previously committed to Miami, de-committed and has since said he will attend UCF.

The 5-11 Upshaw is rated the 59th receiver and 387th Class of 2025 prospect by 247 Sports.

Last season, he caught 59 passes for 1185 yards (20.1 per catch) and 15 touchdowns.

The Canes remain in the running for several top uncommitted receivers, including Jacksonville-based five star receiver Jaime Ffrench (rated the No. 4 receiver and No. 18 prospect by 247) and Orlando-based Vernell Brown (the No. 6 receiver and No. 25 prospect).

Brown is expected to pick soon among UM, UF, FSU and Ohio State.

Here’s where the Canes stand at other positions on offense for 2025:

    ▪ Quarterback: Georgia-based four-star Luke Nickel is considered a solid UM commitment, even while continuing to generate interest elsewhere. FSU, Penn State and Wisconsin are among his other offers.

He led Milton High to an 11-2 record and state title last season and completed 277 of 419 pass attempts (66.1 percent) for 3,914 yards with 39 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also ran for 181 yards and six touchdowns.

    ▪ Tight end: The Canes seem set here with commitments from four-star prospects Brock Schott and Luka Gilbert.

The Leo, Indiana-based Schott is rated by 247 Sports as the No. 9 tight end and No. 145 player overall.

The Westchester, Ohio-based Gilbert is rated by 247 Sports as the No. 14 tight end and 297th best player in the 2025 class. Listed at 6-7, he caught 15 passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns last season.

    ▪ Offensive line: UM is in good shape here with commitments from Las Vegas-based four-star interior offensive lineman Seuseu “SJ” Alofaituli (considered by some to be the nation’s best center prospect), Orlando-based three star offensive tackle Jaden Wilkerson, Orlando-based three-star tackle Demetrius Campbell, Sanford-based four-star offensive lineman Max Buchanan and Jacksonville-based three star interior lineman TK Muex.

Here’s analysis from Larry Blustein and others on four of those five players.

The Canes also remain very much in the running for Georgia-based four-star center/guard prospect Cortez Smith, who is expected to pick among UM, South Carolina, Georgia and Georgia Tech on July 20.

    ▪ Running back: Seffner Armwood prospect Girard Pringle Jr is the only one committed to UM at this point. He’s rated by Rivals as the No. 30 running back in the class.

Last season, Pringle ran for 1,683 yards and 24 TDs on 7.7 yards per carry. He also competes in track and has well above average speed.

UM is among eight finalists for Chattanooga (Tenn.) Baylor School running back Shekai Mills-Knight. Also in the mix: Michigan, Alabama, Auburn, Ohio State, Tennessee, Missouri and Mississippi. 247 Sports rates him the No. 28 running back and 246th best prospect for 2025.

Miami also continues to pursue four-star Plantation American Heritage running back Byron Louis, rated the 15th best running back in the class. FSU also is a major player with Louis.

UM’s 2025 class is rated 10th overall by 247 Sports.
