CORAL SPRINGS, FL - A Fort Lauderdale woman was arrested after allegedly threatening to “shoot everyone” on a Broward County Transit bus that was driving through Coral Springs earlier this month, a police report said.

On July 6, Renisha Thomas, 32, was on a Broward County Transit Bus when she asked passengers to use a cell phone as the bus drove through the 6200 block of Sample Road.

When no one responded, Thomas pulled out a gun and threatened to kill those on the bus, the report said.

She then got off the bus, and one of the passengers called police and gave a description of Thomas including an IHOP hat that she was wearing, the report said.

Coral Springs police worked with Broward Sheriff’s Office to track down Thomas who works at the IHOP in Deerfield Beach.

The person on the bus who called police identified Thomas in a photograph as the woman who pulled out a gun and threatened passengers, the report said.

Thomas – whose address in the report was HOPE South Florida, which offers homeless assistance – was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.

She remained Saturday at Broward County Jail on a $5,000 bond, according to court records.
