Eastern L.I. Expressway: potholes & ditches
Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the repaving of the Robert Moses Causeway, Veterans Memorial Highway between Old Willets Path and Jericho Turnpike, and Route 25 between CR 83 and Coram-Mount Sinai Road, (Newsday, Jnue 30) but nothing about the Long Island Expressway from exits 62 to 72. Once again, they forget about the East End people who also pay taxes. Every summer we get invaded by our up-island neighbors who also use this portion of the L.I. E. This section of the L.I. E. is still filled with potholes and ditches.
Rage at Scott’s Pointe editorial
You don’t allow anonymous letters to be posted but your editorial trash articles can be posted without the author’s name. Kind of a double standard, wouldn’t you say? Clearly the person who wrote the article about Scott’s Pointe has a personal agenda against the place. It’s written like a thirteen year old complaining about a homework assignment they didn’t think they got enough time to complete. That project has been held back for far too long. The town is shooting itself in the foot by shutting it down from the taxes it would collect from sales at the site. Funny how you mention the slim chance of drinking water contamination but you don’t mention the GIANT toxic plume that’s already there affecting the groundwater. Maybe you should take up a stand against the amount of time the local municipalities take to approve or disapprove residential and commercial projects and how that adversely affects businesses and individuals financially and otherwise. We could go into paving asphalt over concrete and repairing concrete roads and highways with asphalt to see how much taxpayer money is wasted by that sham. But that’s for another time and place. You should be supporting local businessmen who are only trying to make a better place for the community and offer better recreational opportunities for the youth in the area. But your just like every other person who feels they are special and needs to try and make a name for themselves (even though you remain anonymous) , by undercutting someone or something more successful than yourself. Trying to create outrage unnecessarily and spark outcry from left wing and environmental groups.

Tell the Town Board: No overdevelopment
The process behind Riverhead Town’s Comprehensive Plan is both unfortunate and misguided. When a comprehensive plan fails to reflect the desires and concerns of the community, something is clearly amiss. This plan should embody our collective vision for the future, yet it appears to be steering us in the wrong direction.
