Two firefighters are facing arson charges in a Grant County church fire.

Corinth firefighters Brendan Gibson, 24, and Robert Hughes, 23, appeared in court on Tuesday.

The fire was reported just before 6 a.m. Monday at Shiloh Full Gospel Church.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded with Corinth, Williamstown and Dry Ridge fire departments.

Gibson’s and Hughes’ arrest reports say they were among the first firefighters to arrive at the church.

Investigators' findings into the fire suggested Gibson and Hughes started the fire themselves, according to the arrest report.

Kentucky State Police officials said Gibson and Hughes admitted to their actions, which resulted in the fire.

The two firefighters are being held in the Grant County Detention Center on $10,000 bonds.

They will return to court for a preliminary hearing at 11 a.m. July 17.
