Lindsey Butler advanced in the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Team Trials, on Thursday. Butler took 6th place in the 3rd heat race, for the Women’s 1500m. The former Hawks standout qualified with a personal-best and Virginia Tech school record time of 4:07.15.

The outstanding run advances Butler to the Friday’s semifinals, which are slated for 8:53 p.m. The former indoor NCAA Champion must finish within the top 5 in her semi-final or, as 1 of the 2 additional fastest times. Achieving the aforementioned qualifications would place Butler in Sunday night’s final, giving her a chance to make the U.S. Olympic Team.

Just 3 weeks prior to the Olympic Trials, the Corning grad wrapped up an impressive collegiate career at Virginia Tech. Butler took 7th in the 1500m NCAA Championship race , earning All-American status for the 5th time in her career.
