Bampa’s House, a non-profit critical resource that has served 100 residents since opening in September 2020, recently welcomed new leadership.

After serving as board president for nine years, Joan Wilson will step down in January 2025. Wilson, a founding board member who led the charge in getting Bampa's House established as a non-profit organization, has served as board president since the organization’s inception.

Linda Jolly will assume the role of president in January. She is currently vice president, Securities and Governance, and corporate secretary for Corning, Inc., a position she has held since 2014.

Jolly is an early supporter of Bampa's House, since before the home was purchased, which makes taking on the role of Bampa’s House board president a natural next step to follow her passion of end-of-life care and continuing to give back to her community.

“I am honored to step into the role of president at Bampa’s House and continue the legacy that Joan and her family have created,” Jolly said. “As a comfort care home, Bampa’s House provides compassionate care for the dying and helps residents live their last days in comfort and love. It is truly a community treasure.”

Jolly said she personally found her volunteer work with the residents to be deeply meaningful.

“It is a privilege to support people in what is perhaps the most intense and intimate time in their lives,” Jolly said. “We are grateful for the many volunteers who make up our community.”

Wilson said that volunteering for Bampa’s House has been a labor of love, a gift that she and the rest of the Dugan family and friends wanted to give to the tri-county community.

"It has been a full-time job, and I am ready to ease back into retirement,” Wilson said. “Knowing I am leaving Bampa’s House in the capable and caring hands of Jolly and the rest of the Bampa’s House board, staff, and volunteers makes that transition easier.

"Our board and our family are excited to have found such a skilled and talented person as Jolly to oversee the future and sustainability of Bampa’s House. We are all committed to continuing these services to our community for as long as they are needed.”

Bampa’s House is a non-profit comfort care home that serves Chemung, Steuben and Schuyler counties, providing a safe, peaceful, and comfortable home, staffed by volunteers, for people nearing end-of-life for whom home care is not an option.

Wilson and Jolly will be working together over the next five months to ensure a smooth shift in leadership. For more information about Bampa’s House, go to www.bampashouse.org.
