Corning Children’s Center is planning to reopen a childcare center at 111 Canada Rd. in Painted Post in early September that will have space for about 150 kids.

The site, which formerly housed the Erwin Child & Family Center, was closed in mid-December due to needed renovations , is expected to open Sept. 4, according to Paula Detar, Corning Children’s Center executive director.

Detar said with significant renovations and upgrades to the facility, the opening will take place following building occupancy approval and subsequent New York State licensing approval. It will be known as Corning Children's Center West.

“This expansion will help meet the needs of the nearly 150 children and their families in the community,” Detar said. “We’re happy this new location will help us better serve the childcare needs within the region and offer a high-standard of care in-line with our values.”

The building, owned by Corning Inc., was managed by Pathways, Inc. at the time of the closure, officials said. As of Jan. 1, the Canada Road site has been managed by the Corning Children’s Center.
