Police investigating overnight shooting that left one woman dead in home

Corpus Christi police are investigating an overnight shooting that left one woman dead and multiple roommates facing questioning.

According to a news release published on the Corpus Christi Police Department blotter, officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Green Earth Drive in reference to a shooting. A roommate called in stating they heard gunshots and then discovered someone was shot.

The roommate, who was inside of the home at the time, called at about 3:20 a.m., said senior officer Jennifer Collier.

Officers arrived to find a 25-year-old woman inside the home, dead from an apparent gunshot wound, the news release states.

Robbery Homicide Detectives were called out to investigate, and the roommates were taken to the main police station for interviewing, the news release said.

Detectives are following up on leads. The investigation is active as police try to determine whether the shooting was a random act of violence, the news release said.

It is not known how many people were living inside of the home, though the woman who was shot was a roommate, Collier said.
