Watch: San Francisco Fourth of July fireworks show peeks through the fog
Despite the record temperatures that Bay Area residents have been sweltering in all week, the heat was not enough to keep Karl the Fog from making his nearly annual July 4th visit to at least partially obscure San Francisco's fireworks show. There had been predictions -- even from Karl's own X social media account -- that the fog would stay away amid the blistering heat wave. However, well before sundown, a misty bank of fog could be seen making its way towards the Golden Gate Bridge and under the span. But in the end, the fog made its presence known in a major way.Despite the somewhat obscured view for those on the ground, the show was far more visible than it has been in recent years. The full show can be watched in the player above.

I'm definitely a city girl
During the school year at UC Berkeley, my happiest days are the first days of the semester, game days and days when the sun is shining and the weather is above 65 degrees. There is one thing these days have in common: The streets of Berkeley are always full of people. At the beginning of the semester, Sproul Plaza is lined with tables and students, creating heavier traffic than Piedmont Avenue during rush hour. On game days, alumni and parents flock from all over the country to watch the football game and catch a nostalgic meal at Top Dog or the Asian Ghetto. On warm and sunny days, students migrate to Memorial Glade to catch some much needed vitamin D. No matter the occasion, my mentality is always significantly better when Berkeley is alive with activity.
