Springs residents live in a potential wildfire hot spot. Research into major fires affecting the Springs over the past hundred years shows periodic devastation and reconstruction. This year, with advance notice, it appears many residents are taking precautions and preparing for a “big one.” Drive around the area from W. Agua Caliente Road to W. Verano Road and it appears many potential fire hazards have been modified. However, there are hazards remaining. They need attention!
Vegetation Fire Prompts Evacuations in Antioch
The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District briefly issued evacuation orders after a fire broke out in the City of Antioch on July 4,. According to Contra Costa County Fire, as crews were battling multiple fires, a vegetation fire broke out in the 2700 block of Hillcrest at approximately 10:00 pm. A short-time later, additional resources were requested as the fire made its way up a hill towards Lotus Street which caught multiple fences on fire–evacuations were then ordered.

Northern California Academy Unveils New Performing Arts Hub
SANTA ROSA, Calif.—Sonoma Academy recently completed construction of its new 350-seat Community Performing Arts Center. The professional-grade facility will host the school’s theater, music and film productions, as well as serve as a gathering place for the campus and a community resource hosting various types of arts programming. The Community Performing Arts Center was designed by Quattrocchi Kwok Architects (QKA) and WRNS Studio, and built by DPR Construction with The Shalleck Collaborative serving as the theatrical consultant.
