St. Cloud Planning Commission to Revisit Proposal for Backyard Chickens
(KNSI) – St. Cloud’s Planning Commission will again discuss letting homeowners raise their own chickens for frying and collecting eggs. The ordinance would allow chicken coops in R1 urbanized districts. The policy was reviewed in 2014, and the planning commission held a public hearing at that time. Those against the change cited neighborhood noise and public health concerns. Those testifying for the amendment stated it was a progressive step for the community, which would only benefit the neighborhoods’ quality of life.
Suspect in attack on Olivia man appears in Meeker County District Court Friday
(Litchfield MN-) One of the three suspects in the June 28th attack on an Olivia man has a court appearance today in Meeker County District Court. 26-year-old Tre Ertl of Litchfield is accused of robbing and beating Galen Serbus south of Litchfield after allegedly telling him they had a camper to sell. Court records say after taking the victim's backpack containing $23,000 in cash, they hit him with a car then beat and stabbed him. Charges against the suspects include attempted homicide, robbery and assault. Unconditional bail for Ertl is 4 million dollars, 2 million for David Pillatzki of Litchfield and 20-year-old Ariyanna Pillatzki of Pennock. The father and daughter had court appearances earlier in the week.
Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s deputy charged in drunken driving crash
ATWATER, Minn. – A Kandiyohi County sheriff’s deputy is now charged with driving while intoxicated after crashing his patrol vehicle last month. The criminal complaint says 39-year-old Christopher Flatten of Atwater was seen driving erratically on the evening of July 18 before his county SUV left a county road near Atwater and rolled several times.
Renville County Fair wraps up in Bird Island Friday
(Bird Island MN-) Today is the last day of The Renville County Fair in Bird Island. Alex Lageson and The Big 50 band plays at 430 and the Jake Nelson Band is on at 830. The Kids Celebration The Number 1 Family Game Show is at 130, 330 and 515 and The Demo Derby is in the grandstand starting at 7 p.m. with five different classes or divisions. The animal barns close at 8 and the final cash drawing of the fair is at 10.
