Twins tweak Fourth of July start time in hopes of avoiding rain
The original plan to start the Fourth of July game between the Twins and Tigers at 1:10 p.m. CT has moved up an hour to 12:10 p.m. CT in hopes of avoiding a postponement due to rain. The Twin Cities is forecast to get heavy rain and storms on Thursday, but there may be a window wide enough to fit in Thursday's series finale between the Twins and Tigers. According to the National Weather Service, there is at least a 70% chance of rain in the Twin Cities at noon Thursday all the way through the rest of the day...

Last week, Minneapolis was the final stop on the journey to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Downtown Minneapolis was renamed 2024 Gymnastics City USA as the USA Olympic gymnastics trials and other related events occurred. Just a few miles away at the University of Minnesota, the 2024 U.S. Paralympic Team Trials for swimming was held at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center. WPIAL Star Matt Sieg Receives Latest Offer from Big Ten Program
Matt Sieg is continuing to receive hype in a rapidly evolving recruitment. Sieg — a 6-foot, 170-pound athlete from Fort Cherry in McDonald, Pa. — holds offers from Akron, Nebraska, PSU, Pitt, Syracuse, WVU and Wisconsin, and he’s playing quarterback and defensive back at the high school level. It appears likely that Sieg will be recruited primarily as a safety, but wherever he ends up on the field, he’ll be one of the highest-recruited WPIAL players in the class of 2026.

Head Diving Coach Wenbo Chen Joins 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Staff
MINNEAPOLIS – University of Minnesota Head Men's and Women's Diving Coach Wenbo Chen has been named a U.S. Olympic Team Assistant Coach for the third time in his career. This week, USA Diving announced the staff for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Chen will join Indiana University's Drew Johansen, who will return for his fourth consecutive stint as Head Diving Coach for Team USA. Former Gopher women's diver Sarah Bacon will be among the athletes Chen is set to coach, as she earned a spot to represent the United States in Paris this summer. She will compete in the 3m synchro and 3m individual events.
Gopher hoopsters in summer workouts
Both Gopher basketball teams are in the midst of their respective summer workouts, which began in June. The Minnesota men added six seniors to the 2024-25 season roster along with two returning starters (Dawson Garcia and Mike Mitchell) to a squad that was last season’s Big Ten best in terms of win improvement (19-15 overall) in 2023-24.
Twin Cities Championship returns to Baker National
For the first time since 2018, Baker National Golf Course will co-host the Twin Cities Championship. The tournament will span two-days starting at Theodore Wirth Golf Club on June 29 before finishing at Baker on June 30. According to the Minnesota Golf Association (MGA) website, the tournament raises money for the Fairway Foundation, an organization created by the 3M Championship, the MGA, and the Minnesota Section of the PGA that introduces inner city youth to golf. ...

Matthew Rundquist and Annie Conlin took top honors in the men’s and women’s divisions of the Stillwater Lift Bridge 10-mile road race on Saturday, June 29.
