Tom Petty left this world in October 2017 which was too soon and certainly is missed by his fans. His influence continues to this day across many different genres.

The three-time Grammy winner was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2002 along with his band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.  They also have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Petty released more than 20 albums from 1976 to 2016.  Now, more than 20 country artists are paying tribute to Petty on a new album, "Petty Country: A Country Music Celebration of Tom Petty."

The album is set to release on May 31 from a partnership of the Tom Petty Estate along with Big Machine Records.  Dierks Bentley released a preview to the album on February 23 with "American Girl".

Bentley said in a press release, "Petty's Southern roots shines through across his songwriting and storytelling.  He might not have ever been considered as country but you can't go into a bar in Nashville without hearing this song.  It is one of the greatest songs in a life's work of great American songs. The spirit of this woman, the idea of such relentless hope - and disappointment - ignites such a spark. (Producer) Jon Randall and I were driven to make that feeling of American roots stand tall."

The album "Petty Country" is a star studded affair with greats such as George Strait, Jamey Johnson, Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs, Midland, Lady A, Rhiannon Giddens, Eli Young Band, Lainey Wilson, and more.
