Isanti County veterans will have transportation to VA hospitals

Isanti County veterans now have transportation support through their Veterans Services Office (VSO) thanks to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans.)

On Tuesday, May 7 a long-time request for transportation to the VA Medical Centers, was finally fulfilled.

Transportation to the St. Cloud and Minneapolis VA Medical Centers has been a need in the county, according to Veterans Services Officer Jamie High. Over the past year, High has been in contact with the DAV, explaining how important it is for the county to receive a vehicle to support its veterans.

Now, it’s official. Local veterans will have the opportunity to get transportation to one of the two medical centers.

The VSO has two volunteer drivers that will offer transportation twice a week. High said they are looking for more volunteers to drive throughout the week so veterans have more opportunities for appointments.
