Not up for a full round? Here are 5 9-hole golf courses in RI you should play this summer
There are good days on the golf course, but there are plenty of days when the idea of getting out there for a four-hour, 18-hole grind doesn’t seem like a good idea. If you’re looking to not make golf an all-day affair, you don’t have to look far to find a place to play half a round — and we’re not talking par-3 courses either. There are quite a few nine-hole tracks located around Rhode Island, giving...
NBA's Summer League will have lots of Rhode Island connections
Games are obviously in short supply when July rolls around, but the business of college basketball remains alive and well throughout the year. NBA Summer League invitations, offseason team trips, coaching changes and transfers are still ongoing. It’s been three months since the Final Four and it’s still four months until opening night in November but that matters little. ...

It's not easy to find, but the golf experience Louisquisset provides makes up for it
NORTH PROVIDENCE — Driving through the backroads of what Waze was telling me was North Providence, it was really hard to believe I was just going to happen upon a golf course I had only heard of. When I pulled into the parking lot at Louisquisset Golf Club, there...
MetLinks Golf Course hasn't replaced Metacomet Country Club - but it has kept its spirit alive
EAST PROVIDENCE — I was ready to play MetLinks Golf Course, but I wasn’t ready for the emotional journey. Metacomet Country Club is dead, never to return. MetLinks will never be able to replicate it, but it does a great job encapsulating what the course was and keeps its spirit very much alive.

Following two decisive wins in its last two matches — and the club’s first win at home in its most recent match — Rhode Island FC looked to continue that momentum when the Indy Eleven came to town on Friday night at the midway point of the teams’ inaugural season. However, the Indy Eleven set the tone early and scored two goals within 10 minutes, as it tried to turn the page from a 1-0 loss to...

Everything Clicks for Five-Star Wasserman and Brown

Teen Wiffle Ball Tourney Raises Money for EG Special Olympics
Above: Wiffle ball tourney organizers Ryan Fay and Sean Giannelli. Submitted photo. Sean Giannelli and Ryan Fay started playing wiffle ball as kids. However, as they got older, they took their love of the sport to the next level. In eighth grade the two started their own wiffle ball league, the Backyard Wiffle League, where players could compete on teams. Eventually they got rid of the league and established a tournament instead to help fund the field and other expenses. This year’s tournament took place June 21-22 and for the second year in a row, they donated profits to the relatively new East Greenwich Special Olympics team.
