JSEC Students Showcase Exceptional Talent for 7 Days in Texas @ HOSA Conference
Juanita Sanchez Educational Complex (JSEC) is a High School located in South Providence with a Career and Technical Education Program in Biomedicine and Life Sciences. It is a school that has a heart of gold, a staff that goes above and beyond, and amazing students ready to be inspired to learn. This year our students who competed at our State Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) Leadership Conference showcased their leadership skills, passion, and commitment to health care and won a total of 9 silver medals earning them a spot at HOSA’s International Leadership Conference. This achievement is not just a testament to their hard work and dedication but also a reflection of their exceptional talent and potential.
North Providence L.L.'s ages 9-10 all-stars win District I title, get ready to host state tourney
NORTH PROVIDENCE – The host of the upcoming Major Division ages 9-10 state tournament will also be trying to win the championship. The North Providence Little League’s all-star team captured the District I title on Sunday night at Romano Field by defeating Cranston East, 4-0, and on Saturday, the all-stars will be back on their home turf to begin the double-elimination tourney.

Stu McNay is back among sailing’s best. The world-class sailor from Providence will compete in his fifth Olympic Games this summer, this time in the mixed-470 class alongside Lara Dallman-Weiss. This is the first time the 470 will be a mixed class at the Olympics and McNay attempts to improve on his ninth-place finish at Tokyo in 2020 and fourth-place spot at Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

RIDOH recommends Scituate pond be closed to swimming
SCITUATE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) has recommended that the swimming area at Hope Community Service Pond in Scituate be closed due to high bacteria counts. RIDOH plans to continue to monitor and review beach water quality through Labor Day.
