New technology uses light to engrave erasable 3D images
A new report in the journal Chem by researchers at Dartmouth and Southern Methodist University has developed a method for physicians to capture 3D projections of medical scans, suspending them inside an acrylic cube to create a hand-held reproduction of a patient’s heart, brain, kidneys, or other organs. When the scan is over a quick blast of heat erases the projection and the cube is ready for the next scan.
Somerset family to give back to community after losing teen to rare cancer

Local Nurse Achieves Doctorate in Nursing Practice
Stephen and Deborah Paradis of Rehoboth, MA are delighted to announce that their daughter, Dr. Ashley Perry, has graduated with her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree. Dr. Perry (DRRHS Class of 2004) attended Rhode Island College’s 170th Advanced Degree Commencement Ceremony on May 9th, 2024, at which time her doctoral degree was conferred. She successfully defended her scholarly research, “Implementing a Patient-Centered Approach to Hospital Fall Prevention Programming”, in a public forum on April 30th, 2024. Her dedication and hard work have culminated in this outstanding achievement, marking a significant milestone in her career as Director of Nursing Excellence at Rhode Island Hospital/Hasbro Children’s Hospital. A Rhode Island man who previously served time for a local home invasion is facing a list of new charges. According to Rhode Island State Police, at just before 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Troopers arrested 37-year-old Jayson C. Shute of West Warwick, Rhode Island for Possession of Ghost Gun, License or Permit Required to Carry a Pistol, Possession of Firearm by Person Convicted of Crime of Violence, Weapons Other than Firearms Prohibited, Weapons Other than Firearms Prohibited, Large Capacity Feeding Devices Prohibited, Carrying Dangerous Weapons/Substances Committing Crime of Violence – First Offense, Manufacturing/Possession with Intent to Deliver Schedule I/II Controlled Substance – Fentanyl, Possession of Controlled Substance – Schedule I to V – 10g or Less – Methamphetamine, and Driving with Suspended License – Fourth or Subsequent Offense.
