CRANFORD, NJ- When Cranford residents, Sarah Harvan and Ellie Tantillo saw one of their favorite musicians, Gracie Abrams, was performing live on NBC’s Today show Citi Concert Series line up, they knew they had to go.
The girls met at Cranford High School and are both currently studying at the University of Alabama. This is not the first time the two have gone above and beyond to see their favorite musician together, taking a recent road trip to Nashville to see Taylor Swift on her famous Eras Tour. Harvan just returned home from London this week after catching a Swift show there. Abrams, who opened for Swift last summer on her Eras Tour, just released her new album last week. The album, “The Secret of Us” features the track “Us”, which is a collaboration with Swift. It isn’t unusual for Swift fans to also be Abrams fans, as the two singer/songwriters have a lot in common.
Harvan and Tantillo were lined up at 1:30 a.m. this morning at the famous Rockefeller Plaza just outside the Today Show studio in New York City. The average concert in the summer series attracts several thousand fans and is standing room only. Grabbing a spot near the stage is not an easy task, but they were certainly determined. Not only were they front and center for the show, but they also met co-anchor of the morning show Hoda Kotb and had an opportunity to sing live with her.
It was apparently way more than they were expecting. When asked what the most memorable part of the morning was, Harvan said, “Singing with Hoda!” What will Tantillo remember? “I saw a rat and met Hoda,” she said. That certainly sounds like the quintessential NYC moment and a morning these two college kids won’t soon forget. Roll Tide.
