    CRANFORD, NJ - The Cranford Police Department is seeking qualified candidates interested in becoming Auxiliary Police Officers.

    The Cranford Auxiliary Police Department is a volunteer organization currently led by Captain James Nalepa. The officers play a crucial role in emergency response during extreme weather conditions, including floods and major storms. They also assist the regular police with routine town patrol, DWI checkpoints, and traffic and crowd control during town functions. Becoming a member is a rewarding way to donate time to the Cranford community.

    Applicants must be at least 18 years old and reside within 5 miles of Cranford. If the applicant is not a resident of Cranford, they must live in a town that does not have an auxiliary police unit. Applicants must be able to complete mandatory basic training at the Police Academy and be prepared to receive continuous training in CPR and basic first aid.
