CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) – The Cranston Western Little League 12U Softball All Stars ran through the state tournament. Now, they are headed to Bristol, Conn. for the New England Regionals.

Cranston Western only gave up two runs in three games in the state tournament. Their pitching staff is ready to face the next level of talent.

“The pitching is very strong on this team,” said . “We like to say that we have two number ones. We both come out, we do our job, we support each other in everything we do.”

“I’m looking forward to the competition,” said . “Definitely a better level than what’s around here, so I’m just excited about competing.”

Head coach Lalo Marcano does not think the bright lights will faze his group.

“They’ve been ready for awhile. We are lucky to have the group that we have,” he said. “I know they are going to go out there and do the job.”

Cranston Western will be representing the state of Rhode Island and their first matchup is against Milford, Conn. on Sunday at 8 p.m.
