DEMA to test Salem/Hope Creek Nuclear Plant siren system Tuesday evening
Delaware residents from Delaware City to Smyrna should hear a siren Tuesday night as the Salem and Hope Creek Nuclear Generating Stations hold their quarterly test. Firefighter treated for minor injuries after 2-alarm fire at home in New Castle County
A firefighter suffered minor injuries while battling a two-alarm blaze in Wilmington, Delaware, on Tuesday.It happened just after 12:30 p.m. on the 800 block of North Lombard Street.Firefighters were called to the scene for reports of a house fire. Upon arrival, crews saw smoke coming from the roof of a two-story rowhome.The fire spread rapidly, according to police.Additional crews were called in to help fight the flames.After approximately 45 minutes, authorities say the fire was placed under control.The fire caused heavy damage to the roof and second floor of the home, as well as moderate damage to the roof of a next-door residence.As a result of the blaze, one firefighter was transported to Wilmington Hospital with minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Cecil County Farm Museum breaks ground on new facilities
ELKTON — Shovels broke ground at the Cecil County Farm Museum and Regional Agricultural Center to prepare for construction of a building that will house public restrooms and a commercial kitchen. Another Dry Month on Delmarva
June was another dry month for the Delmarva peninsula, the third month in a row where Salisbury and Georgetown recorded rainfall deficits. The dry weather was mainly the result of a persistent pattern of dominant high pressure, coupled with several bouts of unseasonably dry air from Canada. This also comes with the fact that rainfall is typically inconsistent in the summer due to the uneven nature of how thunderstorms develop. Take the examples below, where Salisbury received a majority of its monthly rain during a persistent thunderstorm event on the 26th. A similar scenario played out in Georgetown on the 14th of the month when more than half of the monthly rainfall occurred.

ELKTON — A man remained jailed on Tuesday after he allegedly pointed a firearm at a visitor outside an Elkton residence over the weekend and threatened to shoot, leading to a police raid in which investigators confiscated more than two and a half ounces of suspect methamphetamine, two loaded handguns and other evidence, according to Cecil County District Court records.
