What started as a small gas station in Texas back in 1982, Buc-ee's has now grown into a nationwide phenomenon. Considering the dozens (and dozens) of fuel pumps available, the clean restrooms, the food and merchandise, it makes sense that this convenience store has developed a cult-like following.

Buc-ee's has over 45 locations, mostly in Texas and scattered across the southeast United States, is finally heading up north. The newest location is being planned for DeForest, Wisconsin which is 15 miles north of Madison.

The proposal is a 73,000 square foot travel center building, 120 fueling stations including all types of fuel, over 600 parking spaces including 20 that are dedicated to electric vehicle charging.

The newest addition to the Buc-ee's family will be located on the I-39, I-90 and I-94 interchange which will serve travelers heading to north to Stevens Point, Eau Claire, LaCrosse and Wisconsin Dells.

Some interesting facts about Buc-ee's is that it holds the record for the largest conveience store which is located in Seiverville, Tennessee. The Katy, Texas location is home to the world's longest carwash with a conveyer stretching out to 255 feet long.

You can find pretty much anything at a Buc-ee's including your everyday convenience store items, along with locally smoked and cured meats, famous barbecue, Buc-ee's apparel, grills and smokers and even lawn furniture and firepits!

Buc-ee's prides themselves on having the cleanest bathrooms of any gas station on the road and I have to attest that is true. They are very clean, spacious and inviting.

The DeForest location is expected to begin construction in May 2024 with the store opening sometime in 2025.

If you're traveling in the Madison area, keep an eye out for that famous beaver sign and plan on spending over an hour at the store if you stop!
