Several cities announce changes to garbage pick-up due to holiday
MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Due to the Independence Day holiday, several area cities have announced changes for residents whose normal garbage collection day is on Thursday. In Mobile, trash and garbage pickup will not run on Thursday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. The makeup day for garbage is Saturday, July 6. There is no makeup day for trash.

Mobile’s ‘innovation’ of St. Louis Street to begin in 2025
MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The City Council on Tuesday gave the green light to a project that will completely overhaul St. Louis Street downtown. Similar to other “complete streets” projects that Mobile has undertaken in recent years – such as Broad Street – the St. Louis facelift will cover 17 blocks between Broad and Water streets. The design includes repaving the road, putting in new sidewalks, better delineating parking and landscaping. Work is expected to begin after Mardi Gras.
