Concert in the park July 5th
The Fourth of July will be extended in Crescent City thanks to a collaboration between the city and the Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness (DNACA). They’ve joined forces to host a series of free Concerts in the Park over the summer. Coming up July 5 at Beachfront Park will be Robert Tiernan and Friends, a high energy jazz/funk fusion. Del Norte Little League All Stars, 10-12 Baseball
The Del Norte Little League 10-12 All Stars competed in the District Eight Tournament that started Friday, June 14 in Medford. Del Norte opened up the tourney vs. the Medford Nationals with a 28-1 win. Del Norte pitchers Colt Presler, Chase Bachmann. Damien Parras and Trevon Barber all pitched for Del Norte, giving up only two hits. In Game 2, on Saturday, DN played Brookings and again came out on top, 28-2. Game 3 Del Norte played Gold Valley and was victorious 11-1, Ernesto Gamez, Damien Parras and Colt Presler tosses a combined no-hitter. DN played in the Championship game, winning 16-6. The State Chamionship will be played July 20. Manager Tyler Backmann expressed his pride with the youngsters. “ They came out swinging. We had 73 hits over shortened games.”

Traffic grinds to a halt after a horse is killed on the I-5 Freeway
Traffic slowed down on the I-5 Freeway Tuesday night after a runaway horse died in one of the lanes. The California Highway Patrol said three horses started running across several lanes of the busy highway a little before 9:00 p.m., near the transition road on the westbound 210 Freeway close to the Newhall Pass. Two horses died after colliding with a car in the middle lane. It eventually died in the No. 4 lane. The driver pulled over to the side of the freeway as some passersby tried to wrangle another horse. It's unclear how the horses got on the freeway.
