FREDONIA, Ky. — Residents of Fredonia prepared Wednesday for thousands to flood into their town of less than 400 later that night. The visitors would drive in for the city’s popular Fourth of July celebration, held each year on July 3, which event organizers said has drawn crowds of 6,000 to 7,000 in the past.

A Hopkinsville man has been named an associate pastor at the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta where civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. preached. The Rev. Donavan Pinner, who recently graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary with the Master of Divinity, will serve as the associate pastor for children and youth at Ebenezer.
