BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – It’s a pressing issue for many Americans and even more so for those who live on the streets, homelessness and affordable housing. The Homeless & Housing Coalition of Kentucky came to town on Wednesday to talk with those who have a vested interest in affordable housing and homelessness and hoping to get some insight on how to fix a big problem in Kentucky. Adrienne Bush and George Eklund with the Homeless & Housing Coalition of Kentucky and the Coalition for the Homeless in Louisville have traveled to Louisville, Lexington, Paducah and Bowling Green so far but still have two more stops to make in northern Kentucky and Morehead to finish out their tour.

Four Toledo pitchers worked a combined three-hitter with 15 strikeouts on Thursday in a 4-0 win over the Louisville Bats at Fifth Third Field. Starter Lael Lockhart (1-3) struck out nine batters in six innings, scattering just one hit and two walks for the Mud Hens (45-53). Relievers PJ Poulin and Brenan Hanifee each allowed one hit in a shutout inning of work, with Hanifee striking out the side. Sean Guenther struck out a pair in a 1-2-3 ninth inning for Toledo. Offensively, the Mud Hens got two quick runs off Louisville starter Lyon Richardson (1-7) in the first inning as Justice Bigbie hit a one-out, two-run double.
Rightsizing project begins on Brownsboro Road, Mellwood Avenue in Louisville
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A resurfacing and rightsizing project has begun on Brownsboro Road and Mellwood Avenue in Louisville. The project will reconfigure a block of Mellwood Avenue between Frankfort Avenue and Brownsboro Road from three lanes with one-way eastbound traffic, to two-way traffic, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said in a news release on Thursday.

Louisville wins prestigious grant for Global Language Cafes
LOUISVILLE — The Office for Immigrant Affairs (OIA) has won a highly competitive grant to support public service projects conducted by U.S. and International Exchange Alumni, which will support a groundbreaking initiative in Louisville to create a series of Global Language Cafes for inclusive communities. The initiative is led by Dr. Monica Lakhwani, language access coordinator, OIA, CDAF project team lead and Jesse Sanders, cultural orientation coordinator with Kentucky Refugee Ministries (KRM).

Having just wrapped Theatre Workshop of Owensboro's 'Summer Shorts', I am familiar with all the wonderful opportunities they offer kids during the summertime. In the midst of our 'Summer Shorts' rehearsals, other theatre stalwarts were and have been working feverishly in preparation for the opening of The Dinosaur Musical on September 6th at the Empress Theater in downtown Owensboro. West Central High School’s Addie Seitz Leads Illinois to a Win in the Senior League Softball Regionals
Following an all-state softball season in the spring, West Central High School senior-to-be Addie Seitz is playing summer softball for an Illinois team that is currently participating in the Little League Senior Softball Central Region Tournament in Lexington, Kentucky. Seitz’s team is currently (2-0) and is tied with a team from Ohio as the only undefeated teams left in the 8-team tournament. She pitched a 4-inning perfect game against Kentucky on Wednesday, winning 16-0. Seitz struck out 7 of the 12 batters she faced. Just as she did during the high school season in the spring, Addie helped herself at the plate, as well, going 2-3 with 5 rbis and blasting a home run. Illinois and Ohio meet today for a chance to play for the regional championship game on Friday.
Several arrested during recent drug investigations in McCracken County
The McCracken County Sheriff's Office has made several arrest in connection with drug investigations over the past week in McCracken County. On July 16th detectives stopped a vehicle on South 6th Street in Paducah. Detectives allegedly found small quantities of Methamphetamine, synthetic Marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. A passenger in the vehicle, 33-year-old Joshua Luna, was charged in connection with the drugs.
