Former Rams DE Chris Long throws first pitch at St. Louis Cardinals game
Former Rams defensive end and philanthropist Chris Long returned to St. Louis to throw out the first pitch at the Cardinals game on Thursday. While the Cardinals played the Padres, Long was interviewed about his time in St. Louis and he only had positive things to say about the city. Long was in town as his foundation is setting up a new initiative to combat education inequality. The second overall pick in 2008, Long played eight years with the franchise. The larger-than-life owner of the popular Ted Drewes Frozen Custard in St. Louis has died. Ted Drewes, Jr., passed away on Monday at the age of 96. He took a business started by his father 95 years ago with a location in Florida and then a second in St. Louis and turned it into a tourist destination serving guests from around the world.
Downtown St. Louis restaurant relocating to Central West End
ST. LOUIS — Cuban restaurant Havana’s Cuisine will relocate from downtown St. Louis to the Central West End. Havana’s will have its final day of service at its downtown location, 1131 Washington Ave., on Sept. 14. It expects to open its new restaurant in early October at 12 S. Euclid in the Central West End. The relocation will provide Havana’s with a larger kitchen, allowing the restaurant to expand its menu and hours, said owner Tamara Landeiro.
