Dry weather means first full weekend of racing at Husets & I-90 Speedway in nearly a month
BRANDON & HARTFORD, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - After wet weather wreaked havoc throughout the region for much of the last month, we were able to get our first full weekend of racing at I-90 Speedway on Saturday and Husets Speedway on Sunday for the first time in nearly a month.
Halouska, Tesch, Gough, Goos Jr. win at I-90 Speedway
HARTFORD, S.D. (KELO) — I-90 Speedway’s season continued with races Saturday night. In the Hobby Stock Feature, Tracy Halouska claimed the win. To the B-mods, where Tyler Tesch of Lennox claimed the victory. In the Street Stock Feature, Briley Gough scored the W. Lee Goos Jr. notched checkered flag in the Racesaver Sprints.

Post 8 Travels to Sioux Falls to Face West
Another big doubleheader is on tap for Pierre Post 8 as the Eights will travel to Sioux Falls area for the first of three times this week, taking on Sioux Falls West today. The Eights are 6-13 in South Dakota games and are closing in on clinching a spot in the playoffs which will be in a week and a half. Pierre potentially needs just one more win to guarantee a spot in the playoffs this season. However, with still six games remaining, plenty of wins can bring a high quality playoff spot and a better chance at making the state tournament. The Eights face West today, a team above them in the standings sitting at 9-13 in South Dakota games and in ninth place. Pierre faces both West and Brandon Valley in the first two doubleheaders this week, the two teams right above them in the standings as the Eights sit in 11th place.
Gamecocks Hold off Blue Teal
The Humboldt/Hartford Gamecocks held off the Flandreau Blue Teal for an 11-10 win on Sunday, July 14th. The Blue Teal scored three runs in the bottom of the second and three in the bottom of the third for an early 6-0 lead. The Gamecocks got three runs in the top of the fourth to cut the lead in half, 6-3. Flandreau, however, responded with three runs in the bottom of the fourth to go back ahead 9-3. Humboldt/Hartford then chipped away at the lead. They scored two runs in the fifth and another in the sixth to make the score 9-6. The Gamecocks then took the lead, 10-9, with a four-run top of the seventh. They added an insurance run in the ninth to make the score 11-9, which was needed. Flandreau got a run in the bottom of the ninth, but the game-tying run was stranded on base.

Dirt Devil 18s, 14s open Friday competition undefeated
SIOUX FALLS, SD/HASTINGS – Pool play and opening round state competition opened Friday for two of the older Dirt Devil softball programs. From the Sherman Softball Complex in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the Dirt Devil 18s (14-10) began pool seven with a 2-0 win over Prodigy Nationals Thompson 18U.

Salem Comes from Behind for Win over Wood Ducks
The Humboldt/Hartford Wood Ducks had a lead for six innings, but Salem rallied for an 11-5 win on Sunday, July 14th. Both teams put two runs on the board in the first inning. The Wood Ducks scored two more runs in the second for a 4-2 lead. Salem got one run in the top of the fourth. The scored remained 4-3 in favor of the Wood Ducks until the top of the seventh inning. Salem scored three times to take a 6-4 lead. They added five more runs in the top of the ninth to make the score 11-4. Humboldt/Hartford added one run in the bottom of the ninth.
Baltic/Colton Legion Falls at Home to Vermillion
The Baltic/Colton legion baseball team suffered a home loss against Vermillion on Friday, July 12th by a score of 6-2. Vermillion took the lead in the top of the first, 1-0, and never trailed in the game. They added another run in the top of the third for 2-0 lead. Baltic/Colton cut the lead in half, 2-1, with a run in the bottom of the third. Each team would score a run again in the fifth inning for a 3-2 score. Vermillion then added three runs in the top of the seventh for the win.
