Register for NCBA Stockmanship & Stewardship Event in Lancaster, WI
Verona, WI — While the dictionary doesn’t include the word “stockmanship,” most livestock producers know what it means: handling livestock in a calm, quiet manner that results in animals that are healthier and gain faster. Stockmanship skills will be a major focus of the upcoming NCBA Stockmanship & Stewardship event in Lancaster, Wisconsin Aug. 28-29. Extension organizations, beef councils, and cattlemen’s associations from Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin have joined with the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, a contractor to the Beef Checkoff, to hold this event, which runs from 12:30 p.m. Wed. through 1:15 p.m. Thursday.

Madison Celebrates Installation of First Air Quality Monitor
The City of Madison is proud to announce the installation of its first air quality monitor within the community. It's located at the Kennedy Heights Community Center. 64 more monitors will be installed in the next few months. The City’s new air quality monitoring network will measure particulate matter concentrations in neighborhoods throughout Madison. Funding for the network was provided by the U.S. Department of Environmental Protection.

Gas prices up a tad in northeast Wisconsin but still below national average
(WFRV) – Gas prices have risen around 13¢ since last week, causing motorists to pay more at the pump and less on personal items. Tuesday’s current average for regular fuel in Wisconsin hit $3.43, compared to $3.31 a week ago. If you go back a month ago, the average was $3.29.
