The murder trial for Fernando Acosta pushed back to next year

MATAGORDA BAY, Texas - The murder trial for Fernando Colin Acosta Jr. has been delayed once again after being pushed back to next year.

The trial will begin on April 7, 2025 with a pretrial date on Dec. 12 of this year. Acosta's trial had been pushed back several times before settling on the new date. The court met on Aug. 2 and Aug. 12 before deciding to delay the trial.

Acosta is charged with the murder of Amanda Johnson in 2021. Johnson's body was found in a burnt vehicle after the alleged killing. He is also charged with tampering with evidence and abuse of corpse and murder.

Acosta met his $500,000 bond after turning himself in to the Matagorda County Jail.
