CULLMAN, Ala. – The seventh annual Stuff the Bus school supply drive is approaching, and volunteers are needed to make it a success. This hands-on opportunity allows community members to give back to students in need, ensuring they have the supplies necessary for a successful school year.

A donation site will be set up in front of Walmart on Alabama Highway 157 during the Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday July 19-21, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Additionally, a school bus will be stationed at the Cullman County Courthouse from July 22-26, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Volunteers are crucial to the event’s success, and organizers aim to have enough helpers so that no one has to sit for an extended period. Shade and water will be provided, and each volunteer will receive a free T-shirt.

“This is an amazing, hands-on opportunity to give back to students in need in the community. We are hoping to get enough volunteers so that no one person will have to sit for a long period of time. We will make sure you have shade and water! Each volunteer will receive a free T-shirt! This is also the same week that our office is moving locations, so we are so very appreciative of any volunteers,” said United Way of Cullman County Resource Development & Outreach Manager Taylor Johnson.

The drive benefits both Cullman City Schools and Cullman County Schools. In addition to the main collection points at Walmart and the courthouse, drop-off locations include:

    • Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce
    • EvaBank
    • Peoples Bank of Alabama
    • Premier Bank of the South
    • Cullman Electric Cooperative
    • Cullman Power Board
    • REHAU
    • Rusken Packaging, Inc.
    • Wallace State Community College
    • Berkeley Bob’s Coffee House
    • Cullman City Communications and Cullman city fire stations (Fire Station 1 – 204 Second Ave. NE, Fire Station 2 – 1711 Main Ave. SW, Fire Station 3 and Communications – 1920 Butler St. NW)

Sponsors Publix and The UPS Store 3136 have also played a significant role in supporting this initiative.
