CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Bosom Buddies Foundation’s (CCBBF’s) largest fundraiser of the year is coming up and tickets are available now. The Little Pink Dress benefit has successfully raised thousands of dollars over the years.
CCBBF was started by Mary Dyer, who would make cakes for women battling breast cancer in her congregation. Involvement grew and the CCBBF was born. CCBBF Board Member Judy Grissom said she knows the overwhelming success of the benefit would not be possible without those first homemade cakes.
“I always want to thank Mrs. Mary Dyer for making this possible. She was the driving force in making the Cullman County Bosom Buddies Foundation, Inc. a reality. Because Mary had the dream and then, she made it her mission, the Foundation has helped many Cullman County cancer survivors in the past 10 years,” Grissom shared. “Thank you Miss Mary. We love you!”
The funds raised are used by the CCBBF to assist and support local men and women who are faced with impossible financial situations while undergoing cancer and other vital medical treatments. They assist with utility bills, transportation costs to and from treatment and food cards to ease the burden further.
Last year’s benefit ( www.cullmantribune.com/2023/10/05/little-pink-dress-benefit-raises-25k ) raised a show-stopping $25,000. The CCBBF and its board hope that this year is more successful than all the past events. According to Grissom, the event is already shaping up to be a success as pre-purchased tickets have caused the event to change venues from last year’s Loft 212, to a larger and more spacious area, allowing more tickets to be sold.
“We needed more space so we are happy to be at The Venue at Cotton Creek,” Grissom smiled. “This will be such a fun-filled evening.”
Along with the traditional live and silent auctions at the community favorite event, the unofficial but highly anticipated “City vs. County” tip war will be returning, pitting organization against organization as they race to raise the most money. Locally “famous” servers from the Cullman Police Department, Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, City of Cullman and Cullman County will be waiting tables, hoping to score big tips.
Registration for sponsorships and ticket sales for the Little Pink Dress benefit are already underway. This year, the event will be held Oct. 1 at The Venue at Cotton Creek, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the program beginning at 6. Entertainment and dinner will be on the menu. The $60 ticket price will get you a delectable catered meal, as well as live entertainment from the Active Adult Senior Kickers and the Wallace State Jazz Band, along with live and silent auctions and door prizes.
