CULVER, Ore. (KTVZ) – Jefferson County firefighters, joined by several other departments from around the region, rushed to stop and put out a string of at least three brush fires in the Culver area Monday afternoon that may have been sparked by a passing train amid very hot, dry conditions.

Mosaic Community Health said Monday it received a $19,500 donation from the Oregon Community Credit Union Foundation to upgrade the Redmond High School-Based Health Center. Wildfires prompt evacuation notices in Central and Southern Oregon
Central Oregon officials have lowered an evacuation order after partially containing a 458-acre wildfire near Redmond. The McCaffrey fire began Saturday immediately east of the Redmond Municipal Airport, prompting the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office to issue a “Go Now!” evacuation order Saturday afternoon for parts of the county. The order was lowered to “Be Set” to evacuate by around 6 p.m. Sunday. The fire is 25% contained, according to Central Oregon Fire Information. The airport was closed for about five hours Saturday as a result of the fire, Airport Director Zackary Bass said.
