Cumberland VFD receives LUCAS device
The Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department and EMS squad received a new LUCAS device by way of a grant through the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation. The device provides mechanical chest compressions to patients in cardiac arrest. It has been shown to provide consistent quality chest compressions during resuscitation attempts, create life-sustaining perfusion of the patient's brain and heart and create good neurological outcomes. Members of the departments will be trained to use the device by Stryker, a medical device and equipment manufacturer.
