New Introduction to Table Games Dealer Training course comes to CCRI in August
In partnership with Bally’s, The Community College of Rhode Island is launching its first Introduction to Table Games Dealer Training course in August. This free six-week, 96-hour in-person course offers participants the opportunity to learn to deal Blackjack and novelty games such as Spanish 21, Let it Ride, Three Card Poker, and Texas Hold’em. Students will also learn about customer service, conflict resolution, gaming etiquette, cheque breakdowns, card and currency handling, and preparation for live auditioning and licensing to work in the gaming industry as entry-level Dealers. Man with Fall River ties enhancing historical accuracy and functionality of ships at Battleship Cove
Fall River, MA – A collaboration is leading to ships at Battleship Cove being restored to their historical glory. According to the Fall River Arts Project, Chandler Hearn, a recent graduate of IYRS’s Digital Modeling and Fabrication program in Newport, Rhode Island, has successfully installed custom-built belaying pins on the USS Joseph P. Kennedy Jr., a historic Gearing-class destroyer docked at Battleship Cove in Fall River, Massachusetts. This installation marks a significant achievement for Hearn, whose capstone project involved creating intricate parts for naval ships.

Attleboro man drowns in Rutland jet ski incident, authorities say
Authorities recovered the body in Turkey Hill Pond on Saturday. A 46-year-old Attleboro man died in a jet ski incident in Rutland on Saturday, Rutland police said. The Rutland Police Department and Rutland Fire Department were dispatched to Turkey Hill Pond around 4:30 p.m. after reports of a jet ski overturned in the water, police said in a statement. Witnesses reported the jet ski’s operator was “in depressed” before going missing underwater, according to police.

Rhode Island man facing list of charges after shooting himself during altercation at bar
Colonel Michael J. Winquist, Chief of the Cranston Police Department, has announced that a local man is facing multiple charges after a shooting at a local bar. On Saturday, at just after 11:15 p.m., Cranston uniformed officers were working a security detail at 39 West, located at 39 Phenix Avenue in Cranston when they heard a gunshot. The officers then observed two men fighting. Officers immediately separated both men and observed a handgun in the hand of one of the subjects identified as 28-year-old Michael Mancini of Cranston. Officers took Mancini to the ground as he refused to release his grip on the gun and violently resisted arrest. Officers were eventually able to subdue Mancini and seized the loaded handgun that contained a fifteen-round magazine.
