SENEY, MI – The oldest and most productive documented common loon in the world hatched another two chicks this breeding season. The female loon known to be at least 38 years old is called “Fe,” and this year she and her partner successfully hatched two chicks during the recent weekend at Seney National Wildlife Refuge in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. She now has at least 42 descendants recorded in her genetic books – breaking her own record again.
