M-28 rest stop to close for repairs
SENEY, MI— A rest area on the Seney Stretch will close temporarily at the end of the month. The facility on M-28 is due to shut down for repaving and parking lot repairs on Monday, July 29. The project is expected to be completed and the rest area reopened by Friday, August 2.

(CBS DETROIT) - Two Lansing men have been sentenced to prison for making threats and carrying firearms inside a convenience store, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced Thursday.Quentin Earl Booth, 39, was sentenced to 71 months and three years' supervised release. Derrick Smith Jr., 30, was sentenced to 57 months. Federal prosecutors say in September 2023, police responded to a store in Lansing about a report that Smith walked into the store with an assault rifle. Michigan police find homemade bomb in man's car during traffic stop
WYANDOTTE, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) - Police arrested two men on Wednesday after finding a homemade bomb inside his car during a traffic stop in Wyandotte.At about 10:40 p.m., two officers stopped a vehicle. The officers noticed "inconsistencies" while talking to the two men inside the vehicle, according to Wyandotte police. During the investigation, police discovered a homemade bomb containing shrapnel."This type of explosive device is designed to do one thing-kill or injure people. Shrapnel is designed to increase the lethality of the device; therefore, it can be safely assumed that their intent was malicious. However, this device will never hurt anyone due to the outstanding policework by Officer Tyler Groat, Officer Rasmussen, and Officer Saltsman," police said in a social media post.The two men were arrested for possession of an explosive device, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of cocaine.

CROSS VILLAGE — A two-car accident on Saturday left six people injured near the Blissfest grounds, according to a press release from the Emmet County Sheriff's Office. At approximately 6:23 p.m. on July 13, the Emmet County Sheriff's Office responded to an accident at the intersection of State and Division roads in Cross Village Township. The intersection is about two and a half miles away from the Blissfest grounds, where the annual summer music festival was taking place.
