CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio - The Red Hot Chili Peppers exist in increasingly rarified rock ‘n’ roll air. Four decades into their career and while some very successful bands of more recent vintage are releasing new albums into a listener void and struggling to fill arenas, the Chili Peppers are still regularly releasing viable, charting albums and regularly touring and selling out arenas and sheds without resorting to “Mega-Hit Record” anniversary tours.

Numbers Band Makes Their Annual Appearance at Akron Art Museum’s Downtown @ Dusk
Thu 7/25 @ 6:30-8PM Kent’s Numbers Band, which debuted in the summer of 1970, has plugged on without a break ever since, is one of northeast Ohio’s musical treasures. Fronted by intense, charismatic singer/songwriter/guitarist Robert Kidney, the band has forged its own distinctive sound out of rock and roll, blues and jazz. While clearly there’ve been many personnel changes in a band with such a long history, Bob’s multi-instrumentalist brother jack Kidney and sax/keyboards player Terry Hynde have been along for a significant chunk of the ride. The current band also features two more local music scene veterans: bassist Bill Watson and drummer Clint Alguire.

Art in the Park celebrates 50 years
MEDINA — More than 125 artists displayed their work for sale as part of Sunday’s 50th Anniversary Art in the Park. The fine art show and sale is put on by the Medina County Art League. The show first began with just a white picket fence Kathy Stokes-Shafer said. Stokes-Shafer has run the art show for the past five years and is currently the chair of the Art in the Parks committee. She said it takes a great team of volunteers to make an event of this scale work.
