Luverne man dies in Crenshaw County crash
A single-vehicle crash in Crenshaw County has claimed the life of a Luverne man. The crash occurred on Crenshaw County 50, approximately 10 miles north of Luverne. Troopers say 43-year-old Jason Adam Bowen was fatally injured when the 2007 Nissan Maxima he was driving left the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned.
Opelika Council honors teen who competed in national championship
OPELIKA — During Tuesday night’s Opelika City Council meeting, the council members and Mayor Gary Fuller recognized seventh grader, Olivia Battle from Opelika Middle School. Battles is a trampoline and tumbling athlete who represented the city of Opelika at the USA Gymnastics National Championships in Minneapolis, Minnesota, last month. She placed in the top 50% of 100-plus females in Trampoline and Double Mini. This was her first nationals with the top athletes in the sport.

City Market, Auburn Parks and Recreation’s weekly farmer’s market, is open each Saturday morning through Aug. 24 from 8 to 11 a.m. at Town Creek Park. Sen. Gudger injured in July 4 jet ski accident
Sen. Garlan Gudger, R-Cullman, was airlifted to UAB Hospital after a jet ski accident on Smith Lake on Thursday. Gudger was in intensive care late Thursday after a “brief surgical procedure to address internal bleeding,” according to a press release from the Alabama Senate.
