Hundreds of dollars’ worth of food stolen from Sault area ballpark
SAULT STE. MARIE — Police need your help finding whoever broke into several buildings and stole food and other items from the local softball/baseball complex. According to Detective Sergeant Kristin Autore, the break-ins occurred sometime between Saturday night and Wednesday morning in the Malcolm Park area. While there is no immediate estimate on the damage to the four buildings, Autore said around $800 in snacks were taken along with some non-food items. Malcolm Park is maintained by volunteers and city workers and holds dozens of games and tournaments throughout the summer.

Higher Orbits space camp kicks off at Lake Superior State University
SAULT STE. MARIE — Higher Orbits’ three-day “Go for Launch” summer camp started Tuesday at Lake Superior State University. The camp helps 8th- to 12th-graders engage in science and space exploration. International Bridge Walk was canceled this year but will return in June 2025
SAULT STE. MARIE — The International Bridge Administration and the chambers of commerce of Sault Ste. Marie Michigan and Ontario on Friday announced the next International Bridge Walk will take place Saturday, June 28, 2025. This year’s walk, which had been slated for June 29, was canceled due to inclement weather. “We deeply regret the cancellation of the 2024 walk,” said International Bridge general director Peter Petainen. “But with heavy rains and a number of thunderstorms in the area, we acted out of an abundance of caution to put the safety of participants first.” Sault Michigan Chamber director Tony Haller and Sault Ontario interim CEO Don Mitchell expressed thanks to everyone who worked to prepare for the bridge walk this year.
