Two dead in late-night Lewes crash
LEWES, Del. – An investigation is underway following a crash that claimed the lives of two people in Lewes Monday night. Just before 11:30 p.m., police say a BMW 328 was driving eastbound near the 16000 block of Gills Neck Road at an apparent high rate of speed. For unknown reasons, the vehicle reportedly left the road as it approached a sharp curve in the roadway, continuing onto a residential property where it hit a wall/pillar, tree, and metal fence. The BMW then caught on fire, spreading to the house and causing extensive damage.
Selbyville Police Search for Bank Fraud Suspect
SELBYVILLE, DE - The Selbyville Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man they say attempted to commit fraud at a local bank. According to Selbyville Police Wednesday, officers were called to the Bank of Ocean City in Selbyville on reports of a suspicious person attempting to commit fraud. Police say they then learned the suspect allegedly used false identification trying to fraudulently withdraw funds.
UPDATED: 2 Dead After Auto Crashes into Home and Bursts into Flames
UPDATED – 10:50am – A crash just before 11:30 on Gills Neck Road near Lewes has left two people dead. Delaware State Police say the driver of a BMW was traveling at an apparent high rate of speed, went off the roadway in a curve and struck a wall, tree and metal fence and caught fire. The fire spread to a residence causing extensive damage. No one in the home was injured. The driver of the BMW and a passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is on-going.
DELAWARE STATE POLICE INVESTIGATING SUNDAY NIGHT SHOOTING IN MILTON
On July 14, 2024, at approximately 7:49 p.m., troopers responded to Cool Spring Road near Fisher Road for a Ford Explorer that crashed into a utility pole. When troopers arrived, they learned that the driver, a 27-year-old man from Laurel, Delaware, had been shot in the back. He was taken to an area hospital with critical injuries.
Laurel Police Warn Residents of Text Message Scam
LAUREL, DE - The Laurel Police Department is warning Sussex County residents of a recent text message scam. LPD say the scam involves the victim being sent a text message from a subject that claims to be someone they (the victim) know. Police say the conversations have started out normal, then transition to the subject asking for money in the form of gift cards.
