Portland Natural Gas Transmission System (PNGTS) recently completed its transition into a standalone company.

Previously, the company had been a subsidiary of TC Energy Corporation and Northern New England Investment Company. As a new standalone company, PNGTS will continue to provide natural gas transportation service to a diverse base of regional utility, energy marketing, and industrial customers.

PNGTS will be led by industry veteran Bill Yardley, who will assume the role of chief executive officer, effective immediately.

“Over the last 25 years, PNGTS has grown from a regional operator into a critical piece of our nation’s energy infrastructure, providing reliable and affordable natural gas to heating and electric generation markets that have historically been volatile due to limited options for upstream supply,” Yardley said. “We are excited to innovate and grow this important asset in an area we know well. Looking to the future, we remain focused on operational excellence and ensuring the highest safety standards across all our assets, as well as maintaining the service our customers have come to know and expect.”

Previously, Yardley was the executive vice president at Enbridge and president of Enbridge’s gas transmission and midstream group from 2017-2022. In that role, he led the company’s North America natural gas pipeline business.

Before Enbridge, Yardley was the group vice president of northeast transmission and president of US transmission for Spectra Energy. In addition, he has served as group vice president of gas transmission at Duke Energy Corporation and vice president of marketing at Boston Gas Company.

PNGTS operates a 295-mile FERC-regulated pipeline system that provides natural gas supply to New England and Atlantic Canada. The system originates near Pittsburg, New Hampshire and has delivery points in New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts.
