A 38-year-old man has been indicted and faces a murder charge alleging he stabbed, dismembered and burned Parker League in an area known as “The Pit” near Apache Junction.

Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell announced the indictment Friday and said it is for second-degree murder and one count of abandonment or concealment of a dead body.

On June 12, League’s body was found in a debris burn pile in the Tonto National Forest.

The victim had been dismembered, stabbed and burned beyond recognition, requiring the county medical examiner to use dental records to identify League, according to MCAO.

In October, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office submitted a case on Ruinard Jr. for review by the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

“Experienced homicide prosecutors in my office combed through nearly 4,000 pages of material submitted in this homicide case. After five months of careful review, we were able to secure this indictment,” Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell said.

The trial date is set for July, officials said.
