Cowboys Free Agent Rumor: Will Tyron Smith Play or Retire?

The Dallas Cowboys did not accomplish their goal of winning another Super Bowl in 2023. And now this coming offseason, there could be some turnover on the roster.

With free agency less than a month away at the beginning of the league year on March 13, the Cowboys are set to lose some key players on both offense and defense.

Offensive tackle Tyron Smith could be one of those players. The 33-year-old has dealt with injuries over the past couple of seasons but has still been able to play at a high level when on the field.

Smith has expressed interest in continuing his playing career, but will it be with the Cowboys?

The USC product hasn't played more than 13 regular season games since 2015 - and has appeared in just 82 of a possible 131 games in that span. Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy expressed an interest in Smith returning to Dallas.

"This is clearly his best season that I have experienced with him since 2020," McCarthy said. "So, he felt good about that. I think the fact that he's not going into the offseason with offseason surgeries is a plus. We'll continue to talk as we move forward."

Dallas could be in trouble along the offensive line if Smith leaves and another unrestricted free agent seeks a new home, as center Tyler Biadasz will also hit the market come March 13.
